



On top of that, the Linux ext2, ext3 & ext4 file-systems are a hell of a lot more efficient. Even the cluster sizes on the drive, and the way in which they are accessed, are so different to the NTFS file-system that Windows just doesn't know what to do with them. If it can no longer be read from, OR written to, Windows is to all intents & purposes gone.The Windows data is still there, but will simply get written over, since there's no 'pointers' to it any longer.ĭon't worry that Windows data will 'bleed through' a Linux re-format, because this completely formats the partition, or entire drive, with a file-system that is alien to Windows, and with which it is totally incompatible. A 'full' re-format will remove Windows, by re-building the partition table, so that none of the Windows content can be accessed any longer.
